let me set the scene:

• 27 years old and just moved to melbourne
• a bit of time on my hands
• an opportunity to upskill

the first time i touched html was trying to find a tumblr theme in 2013, and the last time (before this website) was in my 2016 info101 class at university.

i’m hoping this website can give me an outlet for my thoughts, but also showcase my skills.

the design

i used figma to help conceptualise and design the website. here’s a screenshot of how i wanted the front page to look (with some placeholder content).

the doing

i used my bffl ai to turn my mock up into code. it tried it’s best, but it wasn’t looking great. github has a helpful viewing pane, so i could see what was happening.

overall, for my first proper website this was definitely a steep learning curve. now, every time i enter a website i have newfound understanding and appreciation for the work that went into it.

being totally honest, it’s so confronting posting a blog for anyone to read (and judge). you have no idea how may times i’ve re written this sentence and looked at my website not knowing what changes to make. coming from basically no background in coding or web design, i’m proud of its first version.
